I’m happy knowing that she’s now home with my Nonno again, in heaven, smiling at each other just like they used to.
Since his passing in October, she hadn’t been the same. A piece of her heart left with him. But even through the grief, she remained our light.
When I think of my Nonna, I think of her smiling. Always joking. Always pranking us. And always feeding us the most delicious Sicilian meals, made with so much love.
I know I get my silliness from her and it’s something I’ll carry with me forever.
Losing her feels like losing a part of myself & my Italian heritage. But I also know she’s still with me & I have faith I’ll see her again & she’ll be waiting for me with a big bowl of pasta.
Don’t ever take your loved ones for granted. Time is precious.
